Compressor start capacitors. Anyone 'up' on these?

I've got an old SIP Airmate 40050 compressor that has a starting problem. It keeps blowing fuses and , I'm told, this indicates a failing start capacitor. It has 66uf - 400v on it plus 45s.f3bs.66 as a part number. Now, I'm guessing that it is a big bugga ( 4x1 inch)due to the size of the motor and is not a common part.
So, can I fit 2x33uf capacitors across it or does it need to be the same as the original?

That sounds a biggie
If you use two 33uf the put them in series. However the correct value dosen't seem difficult to get. Are there the correct sort?

BTW SIP do spares, though it may need a phone call or email to get the correct part for this model. Not cheap though. 2 listed on this page.

I've had a crack at SIP and have seen those 2 pages on their site. This compressor is 20-ish years old and it seems that they don't have the capacitors for it. Thanks for the REMCO link. I'll try it tomorrow.

wrong advice, IM, capacitors are wired in parallel to increase the total capacitance which is the sum of their individual capacitance values. They will all need to be rated for the full voltage or greater.

Andrew, You are quite correct. I was having a minor brain fart. I should have known better as I have worked in this field off and on for the last 30 years

From SIP circa £75.

From REMCO £6.95 =£2.50 p&p.
