I was down at Synergy Aviation at Fairoaks earlier this week and was chuffed to find that student George Weddell had just completed his first solo, at the age of 80!
Is this a record?
I'm told that he would like to build his own plane - but he's got too much on at the moment.

There was a guy called Cyril Foulds at Leicester Aero Club gained his PPL last year at LAC. He made the local TV news and papers. I believe he was 80 years young! He was also nominated as 'Student Pilot of the Year'. What a fantastic achievement
