CAA Consultation on Mode S - Deadline 31 May

Post by John Brady » Sun May 04, 2008 12:43 pm

As you probably know, the CAA is proposing to mandate Mode S in all controlled airspace, in TMZs, for gliders and for all international flights. Whilst some of the proposal is sensible, much is not and we must register objection or it will be implemented as proposed. Deadline 31 May.

This post is to ask you to take a look at the consultation link on the homepage and to consider making a response. It is a bit complex so it may take some time.

Any feedback on the draft LAA submission would be very welcome. I have already had feedback about the problem of getting an airborne check of a Mode S installation as few ATS units have Mode S!

I've sent in my tuppence worth. Hopefully it will help.

for the first consultation I used the CAA's online questionairre and was very unhappy at the way in which it was nearly impossible to disagree. This time Ive followed your advice and sent an email submission. It seems such a shame that the CAA are expending so much effort on such a flawed policy.
