New vs. Old Bulletin Board

Post by Nick Allen » Wed Jan 02, 2008 1:36 pm

Is this new BB going to be visible only to LAA members? I thought the plan was that non-members could view it, but not post. Is this an option that will be implemented subsequently?
Also, the old BB had a section to address queries to the CEO: this seemed like a good idea to me, though I'm sure the CEO (or Brian) sometimes felt differently!
And could the powers that be be reminded not to simply ditch the contents of the old BB...

There seem to be log on issues with this BB . When I log on I get various error messages but after several attempts using a variety of browsers eventually succeeded. think there might be some issues with some non micro-soft browsers

Anyone know why we need a new bulletin board? We appear to have lost the past in order to change PFA > LLA! Re register???? Makes no sense to me. It also does not appear to work very reliably.

New BB

Unless we get the old BB content back into this one, I will not be able to follow up or check any of the ongoing stuff I was interested in. Plus, of course, we will lose a vast archive of past pearls of wisdom.

John,
The old PFA bulletin board is going to be achieved... hopefully a link on the LAA website will appear to allow us to visit back to it....... This has been agreed in principal.... meanwhile click http://www.pfa.org.uk/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi where the old board can still be viewed.

Regards,
Jon

I miss the ability to click on "todays posts" so that I can quickly see what has been sent in over the past 24 hours. A link to posts that have zero replies is not so useful as keeping up with rapid debates between Welshman and Brian Hope.

I quite like the new format

Not totally sure about making the BB a member only thing.

Brian is off air as his PC is dead.

The BB should be open to all so we can be an open and inclusive organization with nothing to hide. No problem is good moderation to stop the odd idiot.

Brian did say on the old board that the archive would be kept but asked us to accept that initially it may not be immediately available.

Perhaps a little patience might be appropriate.
