As I have said in my previous posts, none of it seems to make sense! Unless you have a high compression or turbo-charged engine, I really don't see why all standard 8.5:1 engines can't be approved. Having said that, I see that the Total fuel doesn't have a rich rating in the EASA doc. Maybe it's just a case of testing that and we'll be good to go. Well, you can always hope.... :roll:

Sorry to harp back to this but I am totally confused!

Lycoming's new SI1070Q approves UL96 for many engines. Not, sadly, most IO540s. Can anybody give me some insight as to why it's approved for 8.5:1 IO360 engines but not the equivalent IO540? What am I missing? Especially as the IO540 is approved for UL91/96 (OK, I know it's not EXACTLY the same spec, but........)

Possibly! The Lyk SB is a position at a point in time. Testing is on-going with engines not on that list and some will be added. Lyk cannot test everything simultaneously!
