FRED dimensions.

Post by cardiffrob » Sat Oct 22, 2011 10:51 am

Does anyone know the length of a FRED with the tailplane off? I'm after an approx for the tail to the prop tip so I can work out the length of garage I need.

I'm moving house so I haven't got the paperwork here and I'd like to know if I can cancel the hangar charges and drag FRED to my new home. I seem to recall 16 to 20 feet being about right.

Ta!

Rob, given the overall length of 17ft, I'd say 15 to 15.5 ft from nose to stern post with the rudder and tailplane removed.

So, it would just squeeze in to a standard 16 ft long garage.

My Luton Minor would just squeeze in my 16ft garage with the tail assembly removed but I had to knock a hole in the back wall when storing my Luton Major fuselage sans tailplane!

Thanks, but the wings hang aft of the sternpost when folded. I forgot that bit! DOH!
I THIIIIIINK I've got 20 feet and 4 inches from wall to door plus a bit more if I go sideways instead of straight in.
