Value of a spare prop?

Post by cardiffrob » Wed Nov 23, 2011 7:53 am

I've got a new Ken Fern wood prop as a spare and someone wants to maybe buy it. Any idea what it is worth? I bought it as part of a project a few years ago so don't know what it would have originally cost.
Cheers

Well, a brand new, made in UK, wooden prop will cost around 750 today. So depending on the condition of your prop I would suggest anywhere between 250 - 500.

It depends very much on the size and make.
Chris lodge props fetch a premiun as they are very good and he doesn't make them any more.
Ken 's props don't fetch anything like Chris' .
What they cost and what they are worth 2nd hand is not always simple , I have a four blade hoffman for a 150 lycoming that cost over £3500.Its been hanging on my garage wall for 15yrs and I don't expect its worth £250.

As with anything its only worth what some one will pay .

Thanks. It is a 58/30 KF in plain finish with a 100mm VW bolt pattern. Originally for a FRED with an 1835. Only just come out of the box.
