Has anyone noticed a trend in the cost of insuring a homebuilt aircraft becoming higher in comparison to factory built types?
I ask this because some information has come my way from a reliable source that underwriters are raising premiums on homebuilt types purely on the basis of the construction method!
My source hasn't as yet clarified if the increase is relative to third party risks or hull cover or both but if the concern held by underwriters is based on aircraft type alone, then I would assume the increase in premiums would be on both elements of the risk being covered by them.

Homebuilt" aircraft insurance
My third party premium generally goes down most years and did again this year. But then so does the number of hours flown.
Insurance is still more than fuel cost per hour!
