Relocation away from R112 during the main Olympics period?

Post by FlyOnTrack » Fri May 11, 2012 7:05 pm

Does anyone know of any major migrations of clubs or groups of aircraft out of the restricted zone for the Olympics period? I have heard of a gliding school going to Thame which will mean that is much busier than normal - it would be useful to know if there is anywhere else like that, just for awareness of 'extra traffic' whilst navigating nearby.
We've had a few enquiries at Popham from individual pilots wanting to relocate for 5 weeks but nothing major in terms of numbers. I've heard pilots based in R112 saying they will book vacation, others that they will try and fly as they normally do within the R112 rules, others that they will get their 'Annuals' done early in that time period and not fly much, and others that they will 'migrate' to another airfield.
