Roko Aero NG4 / Sport Cruiser?

Post by Nigel Hitchman » Mon Jun 23, 2008 7:48 pm

At Aero-Expo there was an aircraft called a Roko Aero NG4 or similar, parked next to the Sport Cruiser and looking very similar- actually I thought it was a Sport Cruiser, but have since been told it wasnt and can see a few slight changes from the SportCruiser shape.
Roko-Aero have a website which talks about designing and building prototype aircraft inc the NG4.
So is it really the next generation Sport Cruiser and will eventually be called the Sport Cruiser MK IV or something, or is it a different aircraft that just happens to look very similar, developed from the same basic design.
(After all the Czech EV97 Eurostar, Polish AT-3 and Italian Storm SG300 all came from the French Poittier 220)

Hi Nigel, the NG4 was designed by the same guy who designed the SportCruiser but who subsequently left CZAW and set up Roko Aero. It was initially designed as an LSA but has subsequently had a weight saving exercise and now qualifies as a 450kg microlight according to the European definition. It needs to lose a bit more weight to fall into the UK 450 class but work continues to make it do so. Though it looks like the SportCruiser there are numerous changes, some quite major such as a different main spar construction. UK SportCruiser agent Sprite Aviation, is considering bringng it in as a microlight.
