RMZ Radio Mandatory Zone around Blackpool - now gone!

Post by FlyOnTrack » Tue Aug 20, 2013 4:11 pm

CAA announce RMZ for Blackpool, making radio contact mandatory in certain areas around Blackpool whilst radar under maintenance - 27th August to 23rd September map: http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid ... geid=15073
To gain entry to a RMZ a pilot must establish two-way communication with air traffic control before entering the RMZ and then remain on frequency while in the zone unless instructed otherwise.

Edit: title updated to say the RMZ is no more...

On chart above, central circle goes up to FL060, outer 'wings' to 4000' (amsl), and 'contact ATC' can be Blackpool or Warton.

Radar maintenance/upgrade went quicker than planned, so RMZ goes quicker than planned - it's gone!
