If Scotland votes for separation?

Post by C Rule » Mon Jan 27, 2014 12:23 pm

I was wondering what will happen if Scotland votes for independence in the forth coming referendum.
Who will issue Permits etc?

I would cross that issue if it happens.

Anyway I would be more worried about who would do England and Wales. Most of engineering have Scottish heritage :D

You mean the world isn't flat? Och-aye-the-noo we hadn't taken that into account at the SNP.

Definitely not flat up there: there's loads of lumpy bits you can crash into if you're not careful.

I've heard that people flying up there over land often have lifejackets as the only flat bits to land on in an emergency are the lakes. Would have thought flying something with floats would be more appropriate... :lol:

- Flight plans for all crossings to/from EGPX;
- SGAR forms, doubtless Scotland will want its own Border Force to keep out English benefit scroungers/criminals/asylum seekers/neer-do-wells etc etc;
- customs to protect against hazardous foreign whiskies and substandard haggis;
- will the SCAA allow English Permit types to be flown in Scotland? charge an opportunistic fee, perhaps?
- avgas even more expensive in Scotland;
- can you fly Annex II in Scotland with an EASA licence/LAPL?

.... just a few random thoughts for the SLAA ........ :shock:

Who will be first with the registration SC-OTS ?

Unfortunately, as I know too well, separation has happened before!

Just a side track, Do not forget that the vote is for people living in Scotland including Poles etc, 90% of all Scots, live in the rest of the World, who have no say.

Do we need a passport to fly to the Rally?
Where will the FIS border be & can we cross that in a non EASA PtF bug smasher or does the English RAF escort us at gunpoint?

There are disagreements between the "for" & "against" about EU membership if Scotland votes for separation. If Scotland has to apply to join, I assume like anything in the EU, it will take a long time. In that case how would EASA rules affect Scotland during this time period? Also, if Scotland separates, our IMC Rating, being a national rating, may not be recognised. Interesting times.

Bob,,,,...You're a very naughty boy. It appears that you haven't cancelled your subscription to the
Flat Earth Society yet have you ? Come on,,,,be honest !

Voting for "independence" and actually getting it are about 2 million miles apart [ thankfully ].

And if it ever did come to fruition [ which it won't ] then the remaining aviators up there would just register their aeroplanes with someone else , like the UK CAA. [ clue's in the UK ]

Just look at what the Belgians and Dutch do . [ they're crap at rugby too ]

If you ask me, I think there is something very "fishy" about the leadership of the SNP. :roll:
I almost wish Scotland get their independence just to see what would really happen. The assumption without consultation that automatic enrolment into the EU is a bit patronising let alone the assumption that they wouldn't need to join the Euro. Let's not even go into the "We will stay in the Sterling zone" there is no "sterling zone" and I for one wouldn't want them in it. At least without a referendum :lol:

Does anyone here think that just maybe Salmon and Sturgeon are trying it on, in the knowledge that Devo max would be more or less guaranteed referendum or not?

Surely Independence means Independent.... Not Independent, but we will rely on another currency that should things go Pete Tong, will protect us or go down with us. (not our fault Guv).

They do say that the devil makes work for idle hands don't they ?

Why are we all sitting here making posts about politics ! Were aviators ,, brothers of the sky , and above all that aren't we ?

I think it's just a by-product of the atrocious, depressing weather that we're all being subjected to at the moment.
Wasn't all this devolution garbage just a vote-catcher for that obnoxious little snake oil salesman who assumed power in 1997 ?
Aviation is one of the great levellers isn't it ? whether you're Jock , Paddy , Taffy , Vladimir , Jean-Pierre , Sven-Erik . It's one commodity that political scumbags will never dismember.

If it could survive all those years behind the Iron Curtain and still remain healthy , then I don't think that Hadrians Wall will give our passion and it's protagonists too many problems ..
