Future Airspace Strategy VFR Programme Coordinator

Post by John Brady » Tue Jun 03, 2014 10:26 am

Tim Hardy and I (both LAA members) are co-chairing the FAS VFR Implementation Group having taken the task from the CAA as a follow-on the Class G Working Group which we did not think was doing our operation any favours. Eryl Smith has been the programme coordinator but unfortunately he has been head hunted by MOD and has to stand down from 10 June following his appointment as Programme Director for MOD's Gateway transformation programme at RAF Brize Norton. We thought we had found a replacement in a former DAP staff member but he has decided not to join us so we need to recruit.

This programme gives us the opportunity to reclaim airspace and change regulations as well as defend more effectively from further airspace growth and limitations. But it will not work without an effective programme coordinator and the CAA agrees. We need to find a replacement for Eryl. The role reports to the joint chairmen, envisages nominally 1 day a week on a consultancy basis and is remunerated. The task is to deliver a sustainable future for VFR operations in the UK through the FASVIG. I can send a copy of the TORs to anyone who is interested.

If you are interested or know of anyone else who might be please get in touch.

Regards,

John
