Re: Grass
Get an amenity grass mix from an agricultural seed supplier. It will be less vigourous than a farm field mixture.

Re: Grass
Hi,
I have chosen Cotswold Seeds Ltd who actually supply an airfield mixture, the mixture is designed to be low growing and able to tolerate close mowing for resilient and even ground cover. I want to encourage insects and bees, so have add some white clover, birdsfoot trefoil, orchard clover, and small red clover, as these plants are low growing they will suit the grasses. Obviously you will only see the flowers etc when the mixture is left uncut which will be most of the field.
To get a dense covering of grass, the sowing rate will need to be relatively high at 50kg/acre and needs sowing in the next week or so (not going to happen) to be established before the winter frosts so it looks as if it going to be in the Spring.
Cheers Paul

Re: Grass
I sow my agricultural fields at 16Kg per acre and that is 1Kg more than recommended - 50Kg per acre seems extreme !
