AOPA - Electronic Visibility via ADS-B Project - Advance Not

Post by SteveHutt » Sun Feb 01, 2015 4:31 pm

FYI,
THIS IS DIFFERENT!!!
PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH THE NATS UNCERTIFIED GPS MODE S ES ADS-B TRIAL!!!!

This is about a trial of a stand-alone portable ADS-B Out AND ADS-B In device
called LPAT (Low Power ADS-B Transceiver).

You need to be an AOPA member to take part.

The main aim of EVA is to carry out an extensive programme of flight activities, with prototype portable carry-on ADS-B equipment. This will assess the performance and usability of the ADS-B equipment.

The first set of flight activities will be carried out using the prototype Low Power ADS-B Transceiver (LPAT) which has been developed by NATS and FAV. This equipment transmits and receives ADS-B signals and displays the relative position of other ADS-B transmitting aircraft on a small cockpit display. The purpose of the LPAT is to provide cockpit traffic situation awareness of nearby aircraft by assisting “See and Avoid” to enhance flight safety.

AOPA UK will be seeking pilot member volunteers for participation in these activities, who can also provide aircraft for such flights. Support for the costs will be available, at least for the cost of fuel and landing fees, although the details remain to be finalised.
