God I wish I had the AN-2 hours for this!!

The AN-2 s firmly in my top five aircraft to fly before I die list!

Follow us on Twitter, FB etc. - there may be opportunities to fly it (both in Africa and in Europe).

I flew as a passenger in an An-2 once - a DOSAAF one operating out of Kaluga air base SW of Moscow. It had just come off a rebuild and was immaculate.

Wow - was it slow. I have many years of experience with DC-3s (with Air Atlantique) including a transatlantic trip so I'm used to slow - but then there's An-2 slow :-)

If you are talking about flying across Africa in an An-2, I take my hat of to you. Like the DC-3 (and Li-2!) the An-2 was built to last, so the aircraft should make it if the fabric's OK - it's just the sticking power of the crew :-)

You'll find a load of pics of An-2s (many needing an awful lot of TLC) here - just scroll down a wee bit past the An-12s....
