Jodel Mascaret wheel fairing sizes

Post by Paul Catanach » Thu Mar 02, 2017 1:47 am

I bought some wheel fairings to go on my Mascaret and while I'm sure they're the real thing my wheel (with disc brakes) are too wide.

Does anyone else have a similar arrangement and if so what fairings do you have? I'm told the larger 'teardrop' Jodel items may do or perhaps even a pair off a Piper.

(Already emailed Pete Smoothy, not sure if he's off the air now though).

Hello Paul,

Some photos would help.
I am currently having a set of moulds made as couldn't acquire any through our UK Jodel community. I experienced the same problem, however it was the same situation even before I fitted the disc brakes, mine fouled on the undercarriage leg itself.

The moulds we are having made will allow more clearance on the inside (so only the inside cover will change).

The DR1050 are the large teardrop type, like the size of a canoe!

Hi Gavin

Sounds like a solution. I'm about to head off for a month so can't get photos myself, I'll see if I can persuade one of my hangar mates to take some.

Can you give me any more info on your plan for the moulds? Make and sell the fairings yourself....rent out the moulds......what's the plan?

Hi Paul,

Would Robin ones fit, as they have disc brakes?

Hi Paul,

My plan was simply to make a seat that fit -UT properly and another set for -LL

the sad thing is that there are several sets of moulds already in the uk, but trying to buy, rent, beg or borrow drew a blank

Once done I'll give you a shout but drop me a line when you get back and I'll let you know progress

Cheers

Gavin
