Post by BobD » Mon May 21, 2018 2:29 pm

When does booking for the LAA Rally 2018 open ?
The website gives a link to Sywell, but the event there links back to the LAA website.

You are quite right there Bob.
But I have a sneaky feeling that it's to do with the arrival slot allocations and they don't want people booking slots that they maybe , might not be using [ as it were].
But even so , it is something of an inconvenience to people who know that they'll be attending and would like confirmation.
Hopefully , somebody more knowledgeable than I will be along soon to allay your doubts .

Nice thumb-nail photo there mate... :D

One would hope that this year the VRP Coordinates given on there website bare some resemblance to
actual location on the ground,

Even for a rather quiet forum I thought there might have been something on this since 27th!

I would like to know how the overworked AFIS staff felt, but from a mere visitor's point of view, it was another very enjoyable Rally. Four days eased the strain, I'm sure, but four days of good weather must have eased it so much more. I look forward to seeing the official photographs, but I have my collection and it shows the results of a huge amount of work by many volunteers. Thank you to all the Strut members who made such a difference, thank you to Nigel & the marshalling team, thank you to the LAA and thank you to Sywell.

That's all.

Great Rally - well done to all the organising team.

Nearly didnt make it in one piece as a Europa came screaming in from the north, didnt do the hold round Pitsford and nearly dropped on our head from about 1150 feet on the base to final approach, as we had slowed for the 2 in front to land.

Luckily we saw him approaching on the electronic wizardry, but ive never come so close to thinking I ought to file an MOR !

The last time I went something very similar happened to me.
I was on final for the grass and spotted a single seater slowly drift over the top of me also heading for the grass. He clearly hadn't followed the arrival instruction either and was cutting in.
I only had Mk1 eyeball for collision avoidance...
