Training on permit aircraft - what are they checking?

We put our forms in for training on a permit aircraft a couple of months ago now looking to do tailwheel and aeros courses and still waiting, just wondering if anyone knows what they are checking to take so long, I would not have thought there could be much more than checking you have a valid permit??

Surely a quick call to the office would have resolved the delay without resorting to an implied public 'winge'. You have not said if you have done so.
They are there to help and in my experience are very willing to do so.

I am abroad ATM so not so convenient to call plus another of our group is liaising with the office, apologies if this is seen as winging, I just thought I was asking a simple question!

It's an interesting point, what needs checking to allow an aircraft to be used for training I wonder?

I can only guess it might be whether or not the control layout is suitable, maintenance history perhaps (although if it has a Permit the aircraft is airworthy)? I honestly don't know. I really am curious now.


Because there's no way anyone is going to be training in mine. I recall some of the things I've done to training aircraft in the past and I'm not putting my Jodel through that!

Well we finally got our clearance, still not sure what they were looking at apart from them asking if we had brakes in the front but ready to start training

Surely not ab initio training? Tailwheel or aerobatics then?

Tailwheel, Aerobatics, spinning and upset training, also SEP renewals if you fancy something different for your hours instructional flight.
