Stromberg carburettor

Post by Ripley » Fri Aug 09, 2019 5:13 pm

I am using a Stromberg card on an 1834 VW in my Nipper , starts cold , runs perfectly ,but not matter what approach I seem to take I can not start it when it's hot . Has anybody got any experience or ideas to help me ?

Fuel evaporation? Is there actually fuel at & in the carb when trying to start? Also sure it is a carb issue & not something else like no spark?

Robert . I assume that you have the Stromberg CD150 on your 1834cc VW .

Do you also have the LeBurg electronic ignition system fitted ? If you do , then it pretty much rules out any ignition problems . Provided that your plug gaps are set around 0.035"- 0.040" .

So , if you pull some of your spark plugs out , are they a nice 'suede brown' colour ?

Also , how long have you owned your Nipper ? Has it had this problem for long , or has it just come out of the blue .

Also [ bit personal this one ] but are you the chap I saw at Headcorn a few weeks ago ?
