Aircraft Noise Certificate

Post by Leith » Thu Nov 07, 2019 4:44 pm

I seem to recall a report that the requirement for a noise cert for microlight registered aircraft had been recently removed. It is not that I don’t have one but the aircraft that I have a share in has recently had a new prop that has a slightly different profile to the old version of the same type. The current cert states rpm (5900) and pitch (12.5) setting for which the certificate was granted but the rpm is only achievable on the new prop with a much higher pitch (15.0 +) which is, in my mind, too coarse. Any ideas?

It’s true. General Exemption E 4930 gives an exemption to microlight aircraft!
