Flight To Hope. A film by Susie Coreth
Many of you will recall the inspirational article by Joshua Levine in Light Aviation of June 2019 about sculptor Mark Coreth’s Flight2Hope project. Mark had been commissioned to design a sculpture for the St John of Jerusalem Eye Clinic that represented the history and hopes for the future of Jerusalem. The result was Tree of Hope, Mark’s bronze sculpture of an ancient olive tree featuring swifts as its ‘leaves’, the birds evoking freedom and the hope for peace.
He decided to take the opportunity to also co-organise a flight of light aircraft that would consist of pilots from the three Abrahamic faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam, epitomising the respect and cooperation that can and should exist between the three faiths. The flight took in Israel, Palestine and Jordan and culminated in a flight over Jerusalem itself.
Mark flew his Jodel DR1050 from England to Israel and, despite serious weather problems en route and in Israel, Flight2Hope was achieved on 2 April 2019. Exactly one year later, Mark’s daughter Susie has released a short film of the event.

And more about the wonderful little aircraft itself in an excellent article by Clive Davidson in the December 2019 magazine. :D

Saved it for this evening and thank you for letting us know about the film.

Nice to see a Potez (?) tail wheel Jodel, but see how the 'good old' trusty C172 unobtrusively gets everywhere too !
