Channel Danger Areas

Post by John Dean » Mon Oct 05, 2020 1:39 pm

The October edition of "Light Aviation" dropped through the letter box this morning and, as usual, all those chores which I had the good intention to complete were shelved whilst I read our excellent magazine.

One item which caught my eye was the news item about the Channel Danger areas. The map on page 6 shows those on the UK side of the water very clearly but omits those on the French side promulgated in AIC yellow 067/2020. The map on the last page of the AIC shows these very clearly.

It would be very easy to miss these especially as a very popular navigation programme does not plot them on its map for technical reasons whereas it does show the UK ones.

Whilst not many of us are crossing the channel at present, even when the Covid restrictions end I suspect these danger areas will continue.
