While not yet the subject of an official CAA announcement, it is being widely reported that the CAA has changed its advice to AMEs on offering PPL medicals during the current lockdown.
We and other organisations (and AMEs) had made the strongest possible case that the advice from the CAA Medical Policy Unit, preventing AMEs from honouring existing appointments was incorrect, both in terms of not being in step with other GP and private medical activities where health assessments are still being encouraged, and creating potential backlogs in requests for medicals with the decision not to extend exemptions beyond 22nd November. We are pleased that the CAA has responded to wider advice.

Re: CAA CHANGES POLICY ON LOCKDOWN PPL MEDICALS
I have just had a class 2 appointment cancelled quoting the CAA restrictions on medicals so I’m not quite sure how correct this information actually is.
