RAF Reduces Size of Planned UAS Airspace

Post by Steve Slater » Wed Mar 31, 2021 12:17 pm

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that it will reduce the sizes of the proposed Temporary Danger Areas associated with SkyGuardian UAS operations at Waddington and Lossiemouth this summer.

The LAA and other Associations responded to the Airspace Change Proposal ACP-2020-100 consultation, proposing the minor operational changes could enable a reduction in the sizes of the TDAs that would reduce the impact on nearby flying sites such as Temple Bruer and Easterton.

The MoD has taken this on board, largely reducing their sizes to be similar to that of the respective MATZ. In addition, they have agreed to more detailed agreements to allow these airfields to operate with the minimum disruption. We'll continue to seek input into these discussions.
