The Manchester LL route on the 1/2 mil chart used to be very clear and useful for planning and navigating but on the new chart just issued it is greyed out making the navigation features largely invisible. The CAA notice on this (below) suggests this has been done to suit CAA ATS regulators who do not use charts. This is a recipe for failed navigation and infringements
Skywise SW2022/059 says: To coincide with the release of Edition 48 of the 1:500,000 Southern England & Wales VFR chart on 24 March 2022, the shading of that portion of the Manchester CTR designated as the Manchester Low Level Route has changed to better reflect its status as Class D airspace with special conditions for its use.

Bit like all CAA maps - try using the half-mill around the London Area!
AND
yet the French can still produce useable Charts.

It was nice and clear but some map bojo knows best.
One thing to watch out for, the new rules associated with the low level route mean you must squark the listening squark at all times and listen at all times that you are in it.
Unlike other FMC’s where you 7000 if you stop listening inside the LLC you don’t stop listening and don’t squark 7000 till you are out of it and just in the area under and around the Manchester TMA.
Be warned.
