Courses

Post by Rob Swain » Tue Sep 27, 2022 5:42 pm

Just posted in engineering but as it is in a VW thread I doubt many will see it.

We seem to have courses on Rotax engines.

Can we have some courses on Lycomings and Continentals, please?

As an example of the need for a Lycoming course I am stunned by how few Lycoming owners know they should clean out the finger oil strainer at the bottom of the sump at each oil change. It's only the main inlet to the oil pump.
It is pretty coarse but it does collect quite a build up of carbon lumps that come off the underside of the pistons.

I see there is now a course for Gypsy engines. Good for them.

How many more Lycoming and Continental engines are strapped to the front (or sometimes the rear) of permit aircraft?

Great idea, what about adding Walter Mikrons to the list? I have been trying for over 3 years with the LAA to get Basic Composites added to their list of courses without success. And why is there not an aircraft painting course? Both these skills are required for all aircraft whether they be wood and fabric, composite construction or metal,
