New Thread on Permit turnround times.

Post by Flying John » Tue Aug 15, 2023 5:03 pm

I know we have a an old thread regarding Permit turnround times as I posted on it in 2021, but what are peoples experiences this year.

My documents and payments have all been received at HQ but 11 days since the final one was sent in (ARV) I have no permit. The "My Aircraft" page shows docs received and the date, but no-one has called or emailed to say there is a deficiency.

I don't want to call them yet as I am told there is a backlog and its a busy period so I don't want to add to that by phoning.

So how long are others waiting ?

Mine took about 10 working days, and only one very simple query involved.
Now into summer hols time, so likely a bit longer (maybe).
I think the days of 36 hr permit renewal turnaround times are a thing of the past..

Taking so much longer I think they probably call it progress!

Sent mine in last Thursday, August 31st. Zoe in the office called me yesterday lunchtime, Tuesday, September 5th with a query on a missed tick box on the check flight form. Permit issued shortly afterwards. Pretty good going in my book so very pleased all round.

It was due for renewal later this month so I think getting the (correct!) paperwork in in good time really helps the tech office and hopefully no loss of flying time.

And a big thank you to Zoe :)

I wondered how long my Permit revalidation cert would take this year after last years hiccup.
Well maintenance was finish last friday morning and I posted all paperwork on Friday afternoon 2nd class.
Imagine my delight to receive the new PtF certificate on Tuesday morning.
I make that about One working Day. :D :D :D :D :D

Mine has taken a working week so far. I sent all the documents electronically and no one has come back to me with any queries. I really feel that I'm not getting the service I'm paying for, when in previous years turnaround times were excellent.

I also had a bit of trouble finding a inspector this year. Two I had used previously have stopped doing LAA PtF Renewals because of what they described as ridiculously over the top paperwork. Happily I found an old acquaintance, who used to work at the LAA and remains an inspector, who sorted me out.

Emailed Airworthiness review on 5/7/24 . Permit back by email on the 11/7/24.

To be fair I send the flight test schedule in 3 months or so prior to this and paid the fee at the same time.

So they only have one thing to check in July.

Still not received, although the "My Aircraft Data" page shows that documents were cleared last Wednesday. I'll be dropping a line to the Chief Executive if it hasn't arrived by COP Monday.
