Sky-Tec Starter Repair
I have a problem with my Sky-Tec ST2/S starter; the prop does not turn but just judders with a bad noise. Battery, master solenoid and all connections are OK, so I think it's the starter solenoid but the starter looks like a sealed unit. Does anyone know of someone in the UK who can repair/overhaul these, or do they have to go back to the US?

Re: Sky-Tec Starter Repair
A few weeks on, I will answer my own question.
I removed the starter (very easy) and found that the end of the starter shaft had sheared, so the actual gear fell out. The probable original cause was that a tooth was missing from the crankshaft gear cluster, and I am guessing that this messed up the starter. I'm not sure if the shaft had sheared or had been butt welded (!) - either way it was not repairable so a new starter was needed. I have bought one from Airpart Supply Ltd of High Wycombe and they are sending the old one back to the manufacturers for possible credit.
Now I need to source a new crankshaft gear cluster!
