B B Fly-out

Post by J.C. » Mon Nov 24, 2008 11:30 am

Having spoken to Brian at the AGM,I have agreed to go ahead and try to organise this for next year.
It would be nice to have some pro active support.
Please can I have any requests for venues.
The 1st one will probably be in Norfolk in Feb(tarmac runway so no bogging issues).
We will give it 'till Christmas to guage interest.

JC, thanks for being organiser. If its going to be Norfolk then Ive got the following suggestions (and you will probably find they are all in Suffolk as I havent looked at my map!)
Old Buckenham seems to be friendly and has a nice clubhouse with good food, we had an RV fly-in there a couple of years ago which was good. Wonder if the gass parking area is ok in the winter.
Tibenham gliding club also seem to be positive to fly-ins now in the last couple of years, 3 runways and plenty of room, again assuming the grass is ok for parking, but depending on the runway in use, they also have quite a bit of hard runway parking area that could be used. Food here wasnt as good as Old Buckenham, based on my last visit at the Breckland strut fly-in.
Seething another friendly place, but not sure if they have much parking space, also if the weather is really good then maybe a bit of a problem with a lot of aircraft as there is only one entrance to the runway, so back tracking required.
Have there ever been fly-ins to Great Massingham? Looks like a lot of room here, but not sure how much is usable, also no catering on site.
my only request is that it doesnt clash with the VAC Valentine fly-in, not sure of the date but probably Feb 14 or 15.
good luck!

My vote goes for Tibbenham, lots of hard standing and a good Strut for help, if its needed. (Oh yes! 'Ti's in Norfolk)

Little Rissington sounds like a great idea - central and probably a new airfield for a lot of flyers.

I'm based at Tibenham and will liase with them .I will contact Lt Rissington with an eye to March/April.
I suggest we could have a BB wing attatched to Project Propellor June 27th.
I have 15th-22nd July booked off work to go to Tannkosh.A BB wing would be brilliant!
Watch this space for bus trip to LaFerte-Alais ( you can't fly to that one) about £50 per head for the bus only.Date not set but usually May bank holiday.

Tibenham have agreed in priciple for Sat 21st FEB 2009.
LT Rissington have yet to come back to me, but from their published data will not accept flexwing or non radio.

I went to a great VAC fly-in at Sackville farm near Bedford, the locals put on a superb BBQ for a very reasonable price. I wonder if this could be arranged for a BB fly-in. Its a big wide grass strip about twice as long as the published distance in the guides, a little undulating but no problem for an RV. Might not be a place for Long Ezs or maybe aircraft with fragile nosewheel legs, but should be good for most types.

Lt Rissington have agreed in principle to March 21st subject to permission from the MOD.(wheels in motion!).
Sackville farm,Fly-in and B-B-Q(12 noon) 19th April (need to know no.s for catering beforehand,£10 towards BBQ.) That's a BBBBQ!
The first part of the year is filling up,so hopefully we can have some good BB fly-ins.Don't forget the sticky on FLY-IN forum.
I think we have managed to get every one that has been asked for so far,so please send any suggestions for others later in the year,or feel free to help organise "one near you!"
 All we need now is some decent weather next year.
