Carriage cost of propeller

Post by Brian Robe » Sun Feb 01, 2009 8:08 pm

Having need to send a prop to Mr Lodge for overhaul I trotted off to my local postie with it nicely boxed and presented it for carriage by parcel farce which had taken many a parcel for me in the past. Oh no young sir we cannot take your parcel due to its length (over 500mm) so you will have to go hence and find a carrier. Further enquiries with other explosive carriers elicited quotes of £80! Up here that is enough for a good night out at the dogs for the local bowls team with money to spare for kebabs all round on the bus home. Does anyone know of a carrier who will get the propeller from Hexham to broomfield in Essex at a reasonable cost or is there anybody who is passing Hexham for the south who would be willing to drop it in to Mr Lodge? :(

I have used INTERLINK with no problems, it can all be arranged on their website, they will collect.

Brian,

I used "Fastlane International" last year and found them good value.
Think their web link might be: www.wedelivertheworld.com
Sorry, I can't find their phone number or e-mail, right now.

Best of luck!

Ian

Have you tried asking Mr Lodge (or Mr Newton) who they use when they ship their props? (I also used Interlink for some years and found them reliable and reasonable. Tariff here: http://www.interlinkexpress.com/uk_tarriff_update.pdf)

Thank you all.
I had thought of asking Mr Lodge but thought I would try other avenues first.
I will use the information provided and see what comes up. :)

Carrier

Try Fedex but make sure you follow the "slow" route. You don't need it delivering the next day, so chose the cheapest route. Up to 10 kg is £15 next day delivery and i use them 4-5 times a month
