Life assurance for PPLs?

Post by Michael Brooks » Mon Mar 16, 2009 1:30 pm

Anyone know any life assurance companies who don't apply heavy loadings for PPLs? I was in the process of taking out a policy with Co-operative Insurance Services but they came back with a loading of 80% for a few hours per year of private flying for a policy lasting 12 years. I'd naturally prefer an organisation whose actuaries are a bit more sympathetic.

There are a few.
Legal & General, no loading at all when I declared 50 hours per annum.

I believe Bright Grey insurance will do it at standard rates for up to approx 100 hours per annum of purely leisure flying, subject to filling in an aviation questionnaire.

Hope this helps.

I had a quote from HSBC of £100.00 per month for life insurance, then after filling in the questionair, they demanded a medical (which was fine) but then put a loading on there as i fly and the premium went up to £294.00 per month and had extra exclusions also!!
