Glasgow CTA Airspace Change - Please respond to NATS

Post by John Brady » Wed Mar 18, 2009 11:20 am

The NATS proposal to change the Glasgow CTA to class D, cutting off the Highlands from England (or the reverse if you are Scots) is due to end on Tuesday 24 March. Details and a copy of the LAA response are available from the consultation link on the left.

As NATS have been less than honest in their consultation document, it would be helpful if you could consider responding. Whilst we agree that public transport aircraft should be able to fly in Class D airspace, we think that Glasgow already has far more controlled airspace than other similar airports and they don't need another 800 sq km.

Importantly, the impact on non-commercial operations has not been considered, as is required by the CAA.

Many thanks for the efforts you have put into this response - without that I would have been fairly happy to let the proposal go ahead. Instead having seen what amounts to the duplicity in the proposal I have sent a somwhat less politic response than the LAA's.

If you need any help on similar issues in this neck of the woods just drop me a line.

I think it's worth emphasising that even if we don't live oop north, we should all respond to this proposal. Having flown to the Wick rally & back in 2007, I'm aware of the potential impact of these proposals and have sent my thoughts accordingly!
