Air & Country Show presents record cheque to local Air A

Post by colin smith » Sun Sep 06, 2009 8:30 am

Following the successful 10th Anniversary Abingdon Air & Country Show on May 4th 2009,the events organiser(Neil Porter) and deputy organiser(Andy Porter) visited the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance at it's home base of RAF Benson during that Station's recent Families Day event(27th August).

The Air Ambulance is the Charity supported by the all volunteer organised Abingdon Air & Country Show and part of Neil & Andy's visit included the presentation of a cheque for £7000 arising from this year's Abingdon Air & Country Show. This figure represented an approximate 40% increase over the donation made to the same Charity in 2008...no mean feat in these difficult times.Indeed during it's 10 year history Abingdon Air & Country Show has donated £28000 to Charities(before the Air Ambulance the beneficiary was Helen & Douglas House)

Abingdon Air & Country Show is much more than just an Airshow. With something for all the family this event features historic vehicles(cars,commercials,buses,ex-military,steam and tractors),arena events, live music, military displays,re-enactment groups, farmyard displays, childrens entertainment,Craft/Farmers Mkt/ general trade stalls

Planning is now underway for the 2010 Abingdon Air & Country Show which will take place on May 2nd 2010 at Abingdon airifield,Dalton Barracks,Abingdon,Oxon and already enquiries are being made from interested parties wishing to exhibit/display or trade at the show.Anybody wishing to exhibit or trade should in the first instance telephone 01235 529142 and speak to Andy Porter who will then direct you to the relevant Committee Member.

Opportunities will also exist for local(and maybe not so local) businesses to put their name in front of many thousand people for very reasonable outlay.Sponsorship opportunities will soon be announced(every item that is sponsored means more money available to donate to the Air Ambulance Charity),while advertising space in the programme on sale on the day and a facility to have a banner on display around the show-site will be other ways for businesses to Take Your Name to the Skies at Abingdon
