Successful Scout Aerocamp at Belle Vue 05-06-07/06/08

Devon Strut held a very successful Scout Aerocamp this last w/e at Belle Vue Airfield, North Devon, putting 24 Scouts (boys and girls) through three courses of badge-work, Aeronautics, Meteorology and Navigation, followed by a 1/2 hour triangulated flight with the youngsters acting as navigators. The six pilots also found time to give air experience flights to all the adult Scout leaders and it is rumoured that at least one of them is enquiring about flying lessons!
The weather was brilliant, with excellent viz., so the Scouts really enjoyed their w/e Aerocamp. On Sunday there was even time for circuit and general handling flights before the arrival of Polly Vacher in her round the world Piper Dakota, who then presented the Scouts with their well earned badges and certificates. This adds another 24 Young Aviators to the 17 already flown this year by Devon Strut members.
A date has been fixed for the next Devon Aerocamp, which will also be held on 5/6/7th June 2009, again at Belle Vue.
