Has anyone got a serviceable 3 1/8" altimeter with a millibar sub-scale dating from the 1960s or 1970s that they are prepared to part with? I'm looking for something with a patina that matches the age of my other instruments.
Alternatively, does anyone know of a specialist instrument refurbisher where I might have my current altimeter re-built with the inches of mercury sub-scale replaced with a millibar version? Carrying a look-up table is a more simple option but it would be very cumbersome and also I can't trust myself to get the conversion right every time.
All suggestions gratefully received.
John.

Gents,
Thank you so much for your suggestion. I spoke to Mike Hutchinson this morning and he was most helpful. I am about to pack the altimeter (and the ASI as well) and post them off to him.
It will be great if I can use the original instruments and thereby help retain some of the character of a 70's homebuilt aircraft (it's only a VP-1 but I love it dearly!).
Many thanks, once again.

Just to say that, thanks to your pointing me in his direction, Mike Hutchinson resolved all my problems in no time at all.
Unfortunately, the US-made altimeter was so old that it was impossible to locate the necessary spares to convert it from "Hg to milibars but Mike was able to supply an alternative. As for the ASI, he managed to find a Smiths one of the right vintage in lovely condition. Now all I need to do is to hurry up and finish the refurbishment of the aircraft so that I can try them out!
