Wanted Lucas sr4 cap
Any one got a spare cap for a lucas sr4 mag please? I dropped mine on Saturday and cracked it.

All is not lost John.
Many moons ago I did just the same and ended up with a nasty crack in the cap of my SR4.
With no possibility of finding a replacement quickly (I think the Cranfield Rally was next weekend), I set to with some Araldite and a can of car touch up spray paint.
I carefully eased the crack open to allow some heated Araladite (not Araldite Rapid) to run into the crack over its entire length. I waited until the Araldite had set but was still reasonable soft and with a craft knife removed the excess glue from the inside of the cap. After a full 24 hours had elapsed, I gave the inside of the cap a good clean-up with some cellulose thinners on a rag, waited until the solvent had flashed off then gave the inside of the cap two coats of spray paint.
Obviously, I put some small peices of masking tape over the brass conductors inside the cap to avoid them becoming covered in paint.
Result, one functioning mag cap that remained in the aircraft until I sold it some years later. At each 50hr check I examined the inside of the cap for indications of HT tracking in the vicinity of the repair and never found any.
Hope this helps until you can lay your hands on a replacement cap.

Thanks will give it a try. BTW new caps are easily available now, as Are most parts for these mags.Thats the annoying part , I had just overhauled the mag !
The problem is the cost of the parts coupled with the fact that the suppliers will not sell you any components if they are for aircraft.
My tractor runs lovely on the new mags!
