Aircraft wanted, suggestions appreciated

Post by geoffwright » Thu Dec 17, 2009 9:21 pm

Aircraft wanted:

Considering: :?

Auster, which would be best for short field & ground handling?
Cessna 120 with 0-200
Luscombe with 0-200
Jodel, a bit tight on leg and headroom, some may be OK?
Piper Cub, does most things but a bit tight on leg room.
Piper Pacer/Tri-Pacer, never been in one but looks roomy.(C of A not so good?)

Flying from a very narrow strip and need to clear 50 foot at 450 yards.
Must be reasonable short field performance.
Needs to handle well due to the very narrow strip & frequent crosswinds.
Suitable for tall Pilot 6'2"
Something that carries a bit of baggage.
Probably 90-160 HP Lycoming, Continental or Rotax. (smaller the better)
Shame I had to sell the RV7 but need something cheaper.

Offers, advice and ideas welcomed.

The forerunner of Auster was the Taylorcraft which I think only has a 65 or 85HP O200. i've just been reading some old articles on the type but they seem interesting

Hi Mike
Yes, both the Taylorcraft and Auster seem quite reasonable
