Small Piece of Steel tube needed

Post by Ken Fern » Thu Sep 15, 2011 2:06 pm

Hi,

Has anyone got a piece of steel tube which is 1 5/8" diameter by 16swg (.063") in either T45 or 4130... I only need a piece 1 1/2" inches long. It can be thicker wall tubing that I can machine down to size as its needed for an outer sleeve on another tube.
I can get it from LAS but have to buy a minimum of 12"

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

Ken

Hello Ken, BW has a short length of 1.75" bar 4130 of mine, so do please use enough for your job if you don't mind machining from the solid.
Best regards

Is it for that FRED? There is an approval on later plan sets for the substitution of bog standard CDS2 if you go up one size of wall thickness. Not sure if this is applicable if you are repairing some 35/40 ton steel, though.
I can check this out later if you like.

Hello Rob, No this tube is for the the Comet project, I have managed to scrounge a piece off Supermarine which just needs boring to size.
