VW AIRCOOLED 1600 ...... Yet Again no doubt ...

Post by Landsurfer » Thu Jun 15, 2017 4:44 pm

I am after an unmodified VW 1600 air-cooled short engine for total rebuild to aircraft spec .....
Going down the Don Peacock route as i have a number of engine components provided and donated by Nev Ayre, from my previous engine builds and a VP1 restoration needing an engine ....
I will happily collect within the UK .....
I and my staff visit rail depots from Inverness to Long Rock Penzance and Swansea to Essex.
So distance is never an object

If you are after an unmodified engine, then it may be best to look for car engines

Is this the sort of thing you are after?

As the engine will require a complete rebuild to record the required data of inspection i am looking for "repairable" engine rather than a remanufactured one.
"That dirty old short engine at in the back of the workshop " type.

Hi, David,
I have only just noticed your advert - I have an unused VW 1600 'Short Block' car engine of 1978 vintage. It still has the makers sealing plugs as fitted at the factory. There is also a pair of new Lucas SR4 magnetos complete with chain sprockets, together with alloy rocker-covers and inlet-manifolds which were supplied by Monet Aircraft.

Please let me know if you are interested in the above.

Regards Ken.

David, Having many happy hours in a Veep I would suggest you need an 1834 VW not 1600.
