G-BDEY

Post by Nigelcot » Wed Nov 03, 2010 11:18 am

I was very interested to see the article on G-BDEY in the latest LAA mag.

I can perhaps fill in a few gaps in its history.
It was purchased in Belgium in the mid / late 70s along with G-BDEZ by Brian Dunlop who was at the time a Flight Engineer on Tristars with BA.
Neither had, I believe, flown for many years, Bdey was substantially un damaged and Brian rebuilt it fairly rapidly when I purchased it with Keith Byron, we kept it at variously Biggin Hill, Redhill and Ripe untill it was sold to finance our professional licences.
Bdez which was in far worse order was sold to the late Peter and Kay Elliot and was rebuilt in their living room.
It was Brian who converted it from its original grasshopper configuration into its current J3.
Very nice to see it in such excellent condition after 30+ years
