Here, here, Brian! And I work in the IT industry! I do get fed up with people wanting more and more out of IT to the point that some I know would have their PC's breath for them too! All I want to do is fly and release myself from the bonds of the earth for a few hours, where's the harm in that? Very Happy

Hi Chris, yes thanks I did.
The survey is open to all members for whom we have an email (about 4500). There is a note in the next issue (went to press yesterday lunchtime) that the survey is live and if members have not received an email offering them the opportunity to take part and they want to, all they have to do is send an email to Penny and she will then have their email address and can send them an invite.
I can already hear the howls of why do I have to do it via email? Well, it has to be done digitally because it is far leasier to quantify the results. If we made paper versions of the survey available it would take forever and a day to log the answers. And if we had it downloadable from the website we would need some form of check to ensure that only members logged on and filled it out, and then only once. So, by inviting members of known email address we can easily accept just one email per email, plus of course we will increase our email list for members, useful when we need to contact as many members as quickly as possible if we want them to respond to a consultation, or tell them about something that is going on.

LAA 2011 Survey
Blimey , this old chatroom lark's a laugh a minute innit ? A members slightly tongue in cheek posting re; the 2011 Survey explodes into a million different directions of diversification . One poor chap even manages to go off into a full Stanley Unwin impersonation ! Book him for the Saturday night spot at Sywell [Brian Newbold eat your heart out]
Can't wait to see the results of this survey!

It was probably a mistake to have the survey questionnaire sent to members by Melanie of Propeller Marketing, because it did not focus attention like one coming from the LAA Office would. Many probably ended up in spam boxes and were ignored, which does not help achieve the desired result.
It would have cost nothing in time, effort or money for the LAA to send the message out with a link to the questionnaire.
It does seem rather strange that those who saw the need for a survey, did not see the importance of communicating directly with members.
It might be worth getting the Office to send out a email reminder.
