Keep clear of Gee Dubbya.
Noted from FLYER forum: Nuclear-powered Nimitz class carrier USS George Bush is currently moored in the Solent and US Navy police have asked that all aircraft remain clear 1000ft vertically and laterally. Notam may be issued so make sure you check if heading that way (why not try SkyDemon, see May magazine to discover how easy it is to use).
Weather permitting, Kent and Devon Struts are having a gathering at Sandown on Monday for lunch in Shanklin, it'll be interesting to see just how big a US aircraft carrier actually is.

Dave Wise posted this link, on the Air-Britain yahoo group, to a web cam so you can all view it.

After what happened to the USS Cole in Aden, I do not think you would get that close in a small boat before you were vigorously dissuaded from coming closer.
Don't forget that there are helos coming off and on and therefore they would like the same area as that which you give a small airfield. It is big enough to see from a distance. PS it doesn't seem to show on the chart of moored vessel in the Solent maybe military don't go on it. When the Olympics are on there will be another smaller one parked off Southend.
