any information on mudguards for a D112?

Post by Mick Bevan » Tue Mar 20, 2012 11:49 pm

Hi all,
I recall seeing a simple mudguard set-up for a Jodel. Does anyone have any ideas where I could get some or drawings for same?

Hi Mick
I've mudguards on my D112 which were galvanised units sourced from a caravan / trailer supplier. Mild steel brackets were welded to mount the inboard side to the undercarriage inner leg using exhaust clamps and a single outboard strut is bolted to a captive nut on the end of the wheel axle. Rubber mudflaps are pop riveted to the bottom rear edges which work a treat in keeping sheep sh!t off the wing and don't seem to have any detrimental impact on speed. Mike Jackson at Netherthorpe made a set of mudguards for his D112 last year using the same design but with slightly different attachments. See https://picasaweb.google.com/mikemold/M ... CMudguards

Yet more... a method of fitting spats was adapted for the mudguards:

I'd like to see a Jodel with a modern aluminium sprung u/c outfit - well, on a D9 anyway.

Bill, Spring steel undercarriages have been used on Falconar derivatives of the Jodel, but M Delemontez has stated that the Jodel spar is not designed for the loads imparted by that type of system.
