Does anyone know what the latest immigration procedures are for inbound GA flights to Lydd from France/Belgium?
Lydd used to have Customs/ Border Force presence, but it looks like you now need to submit a GAR, either by e-mail or using the AOPA website or mobile app. Border Force now appear to be based at Folkstone (for Lydd).
Do you just give a few hours notice?
Thanks

Re: GAR submissions
Tony,
As far as l can see we need to give 4 hrs notice of our return to the UK. The GAR form is now an embedded part of the excellent Skydemon software, so it is dead easy to submit a GAR along with a checked Flightplan.
Outside of Skydemon you should ensure the GAR is submitted in good time otehrwise Lydd Border Force can get very shirtyl
Have a good trip.

If you dont have a subscription to Skydemon then simply:-
download U.K Customs form:-
http://www.rochester-airport.co.uk/gendec.doc
Simply fill it out in Word and send as an attachment to:
[email protected] (put GAR, registration and airfield in the title of the email)
Outbound to EU – no obligation to notify, Inbound to UK 4 hrs,

Re: GAR submissions
Thanks for the info.
I am sure I have read in other places that e-mailed GARs are, soon, not going to be accepted and the notification method will have to be via on-line/mobile app means.
I now have both available, so just need good weather!

Re: GAR submissions
I think that's a scare tactic to persuede you to subscribe to one of the new methods.
If HMRC want notification of inbound X channel flights then they need a method that does not encumber a member of the european community. So there will always have to be a method of informing them that is simple and notionally free, i.e Fax, phone, email or a simple interface provided by them.
