Rally 2014
I attended the rally by road, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I am an enthusiast, 'spotter' of 50 years standing and a UK Radio Amateur. I joined the LAA to support GA in the UK . I would like to thank the organisers, volunteers, and of course all the owners/pilots who bring such a variety of aircraft and made this year an enjoyable experience once again. Thank you all, hope to be there next year.

Re: Rally 2014
And thank you John for supporting the LAA. The work undertaken by organisations such as LAA, BMAA, AOPA etc., to ensure GA is not stifled by overregulation or squeezed out of ever more airspace, benefits everybody who has a passion for light aviation, whether they fly, photograph or 'spot'. A strong membership means we represent more people, which often strengthens our case, and ensures that we have the financial ability to fund engagement in the UK and Europe. It is unfortunate that there are many who take great pleasure from GA but do not see the need to put a little back to help ensure its wellbeing and longevity.

Hi metpol725,
It's always good to hear from enthusiasts, as I feel that you guys often seem to get short changed in aviation circles, when in fact a lot of spotter/enthusiasts are probably far more knowledgeable and informed than most of us pilot johnnies.
You will probably find that this forum is a bit quiet as far as light chat and general banter are concerned , but don't take this as an indication of lack of interest or standoffishness , you'll probably find that most LAA'ers are kissing, hugging, flying or working on their aeroplanes.
Where do you live ? If you are around Sussex , you will be very welcome to visit Deanland .
Oh and well done for visiting the rally on all three days, three more than I managed [but I was working that weekend]

Re: Rally 2014
I am from the far north where it stays pretty cold but had to buy a fleece to keep warm in that biting wind in Sywell. It was a great outing again and the five and a half hour flight from Wick was a good learning experience. No worries about a Channel crossing now as on the return flight (same flight time) we took a direct route over the Moray Firth (55 miles or so) from overhead Lossiemouth direct back to Wick.

Wowee Bill,
I've just had a quick look at that crossing from Lossiemouth to Wick on GoogleMaps , and speaking as a true Sassenach, Southern Softie , I'm impressed .
Ye Scots laddies are a tough bunch , that's for sure.
