Piper Cub Brake hose wanted

Post by Harry Hopkins » Wed Aug 21, 2019 6:48 pm

A friend of mine, an LAA member, needs to replace his Piper L4 Cub brake hose, and has been unable to source a local replacement. Does anyone know of any organisation that would make up a new one? The problem seems to be in the end fittings, which I understand are 1/8 NPT at the Scott Brake end, and 7/16 * 24tpi at the u/c end.

All suggestions gratefully received.

Harry
I got some made up for my Corben at Merlin Motorsports - Castle Combe near Chippenham.
They have a Workshop that will make them up for you using removed pipes as 'model'.
One word of warning. DO NOT TELL THEM THEY ARE FOR AN AIRCRAFT.
The owner gets very twitchy even though he is a Pilot.

I believe Saywell International, Worthing, West Sussex, can make up brake hoses using the original fittings:

Alternatively, Hampshire Hose did something similar for me a few years ago:
