:D Thoroughly enjoyed my day (Saturday) at Dunkeswell. :D
When I finally arrived......

Just north of Henstridge I spied an Emeraude on my right making it's way south westward. South of Yeovil, and at 1000ft or so, I made the decision to turn back and wait for the promised improvement.... only to find the Emeraude had made the same decision at the same time.

We pottered back in company and landed for lunch at Henstridge, to find a few others also waiting for the weather. Many thanks to Joe at Henstridge BTW, he wouldn't take any money for the landing as it was a diversion "due weather". Top bloke.

After a leisurely lunch set off again and arrived in brilliant weather.... and number 5 ish on final. Still, all pretty disciplined flying from everyone, so no problems.

Excellent arrangements on the ground, and a thoroughly enjoyable day.

A big thank you to all those who organised and ran the event. These things take a lot of effort, and I'd just like to say it was all much appreciated.

Andy

We've held our post rally meeting, noted our mistakes (and our successes - over 200 visiting aircraft, despite unfavourable weather, and over 1000 visitors through the gates).
So, in conjunction with the owners of Dunkeswell Airfield, by popular request we have decided that the next LAA Devon Regional Rally will be held at Dunkeswell on JULY 3/4/5 2009.
As the saying goes, "Watch this space!"

“Next LAA Devon Regional Rally”

Glad to hear you are running one again next year, but will the LAA be supporting regional and a national event next year? Makes little difference to me, as I will turn up anyway, but the removal of “Regional” status from Wick indirectly killed the event off which was a great shame.

Thanks again for organising a fun event!
