You too could be an athlete!
We've just posted on the LAA website some details concerning next year's World Air Games to be hosted by Torino in June.
There's a class for homebuilt / experimental and another for historic/ restoration.
If you fancy flying your homebuilt/ vintage down to Turin and joining in the fun, you need to act fast. Check out the links on the website and if you're interested give me a call.
Cheers

Hi Will
It's been taken down, being nominally beyond its sell by date.
However, I understand the organisers are keen to promote the 'experimental' aviation event, so treat this as a nominal deadline. It would make a great mission to fly your pride and joy across the Alps to Turin, enjoy the Italian hospitality, maybe win a gong, then fly home again.

Dear pilots
You may have heard of next year’s World Air Games in Turin. In concept, it’s a games and venue bringing together all the main airsports, somewhat like the Olympics. In fact, it’s the same organising group for Turin that hosted the recent Winter Olympics based at Turin.
Attached here is an invitation for a UK entry for the ‘experimental / home built’ and the ‘restoration / vintage’ classes (check out http://www.worldairgames.org/2009/sport ... perimental )
Each country is invited to enter their top ‘athlete’ to the contest.
We’ve been asking around for some time, but there might be someone out there who’s interested. How about flying your homebuilt down to Turin next June, enjoying the Italian hospitality, being classified as an athlete and maybe win a medal? You may even score a drugs test!
If you’re interested, time is short and the entry has to be official, through the Royal Aero Club via [email protected] Deadline is this 17.00hrs this Friday 15th November. Please let us know at the LAA office too. I’ve asked the BMAA to run this invite too.
Personally, I’ll be going representing UK in the gliding category, so I have some further details of arrangements, but there are a lot of unknowns. I’m expecting the organisers will pay all your ‘in country’ expenses, but you’ll have to get yourself and your aircraft there. Give me a call if you want to discuss. Oh yes, you must be a GB citizen to represent GB.

Peter,
This sounds fantastic!!!
I'm late picking up on it because I don't sign on to the forum very often. To be honest, I also find the negativity and back-biting expressed by certain people is a little depressing.
So, I could fly my Falco to Turin in June??? Maybe I could persuade a couple of other Falco owners if there are more slots.
Sounds perfect...is there still any prospect of getting registered???
