Royal Aero Club Awards

Post by Steve Brown » Wed Mar 03, 2010 10:14 am

I note in the March mag that several LAA members have earned awards from the RAeC - great recognition from a respected & independent external body.

Typical of modest Brian Hope (who gets the Nexus Trophy for his fantastic editorship of the LAA mag) to put this announcement in the mag in a fairly low profile way (Page 11).

I'd like to congratulate Laurie, Nigel, Cliff, Dave and Brian on their awards for their services to aviation and LAA and also suggest that the website be updated to recognise their achievements and perhaps expand on the background to their contributions / RAeC citations.

Well done everyone and thank you from an LAA member.

BTW. I felt the LAA could have mentioned that Keith Negal. BMAA member and recent Chairman has been awarded the Royal Aero Club Gold Medal.

Gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded annually for outstanding achievement in aviation, principally as a pilot. Notable recipients
1908 Wilbur & Orville Wright
1909 Louis Bleriot

Keith was nominated long before his illness was diagnosed & will receive the award at a ceremony planned for 27th April 2010 at Hendon.
